What is a Faraday Cage?

A Faraday cage, Faraday shield or Hoffman Box is an enclosure formed by a mesh of conducting material such as copper. A Faraday enclosure blocks out external static electric fields and the reception of external radio signals, a form of electromagnetic radiation. Signals surrounding a cage can be severely reduced or even totally blocked by the cage itself. In paranormal research stray radio frequencies can have undesired effects of some magnetic, electric and electro-magnetic equipment such as EMF Meters and KII meters. Anyone who has used a wireless radio or cell phone around a KII meter can attest to this problem. By placing your EMF Meter or KII in a Faraday cage, you eliminate the possibility of false positive readings on your equipment. The frequencies blocked by the cage are determined by the weave of the conductive mesh material that the cage is made of. For example a tighter mesh material (smaller holes) will block higher frequencies (such as cell phones), while a loose mesh will allow higher frequencies to pass and block mostly lower frequencies.

No worries, The fine mesh of copper may look solid on the outside, but Its actually translucent and any lights inside the cage can be seen just fine.

If you don’t analyze your audio evidence using some form of audio spectrum analysis, you’re only getting a very small portion of the information that’s available in your audio samples. Traditional programs such as Adobe Audition, Audacity, Cool Edit and Soundforge only show a two dimensional image of a sound wave and only provide information on overall volume and duration. By using spectrograph software we can learn so much more about the audio sample. The difference is like looking at a city skyline as compared to a satellite view. You can learn a lot more with a bigger picture.

• Formant frequency structures allowing for phonetic analysis
• The frequency range of the subject audio
• Phonetic structure such as vowels and consonants

Studying these attributes allows us to determine if voices in the EVP sample are in fact human articulated voices or simply noise being misunderstood (pareidolia or “matrixing”). We can also analyze the phonetic structure to help determine what is actually being said and compare the background noise level to the level of the subject audio to help determine a standard “clarity class” (A B or C) or locate evidence of audio clean up or tampering. With a full spectrum analysis we can even compare the subject audio to the voices of your group members to determine if the file was indeed from an “unknown” source or from a chatty group member.

With each and every analysis we provide you with a 15 to 20 page report transcribing your sample and detailing our findings in a strictly scientific but easy to read format.

We will also officially classify your EVP sample based not on opinion, but on a noise to audio clarity scale, a standard that we’ve developed here at the center. Reports come in PDF format (see sample) but for $15 more you can get a printed and bound color copy of your report complete with a mini CD containing the subject file in question and a digital copy of the report ready for emailing to your client or to upload on your website. Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I get an audio spectrum analysis?

Because independent verification of evidence from a trusted third party is important. It shows that professional people unrelated to the case support your claim and determination based on scientific evidence. Also if you don’t know everything there is to know about your evidence, how can you be so sure it’s paranormal?

Should I get a report for all of my EVP’s?

No. This report is intended to be an analysis and verification of those EVP’s that you and your group feel are the strongest representation of true evidence from your case or as a way to find clarity when you’re just not sure if what you have is evidence at all. Bear in mind that once spectrum analysis is done, our findings may show results that differ from your own. We may find evidence of file tampering or that the voice your hearing isn’t a voice at all…just noise. We understand that throughout history science has always been at odds with opinion. That’s why our reports are presented as a representation of fact and opinions and determination as to the definite origin of each anomaly is left to you our client.

How long does it take to get a report?

Typically we can get a report to you in about a week. If you choose the print and bind option it could take up to two weeks.

How should I submit the file to you?

We need the original UNEDITED file in .wav (44khz if possible) format and only the portion of the file to be analyzed plus 20 to 30 seconds of file preceding and trailing the section of the file in question. In other words unless the entire file is EVP do not send us 15 minute files. We only need a little more than what you want analyzed. After you make your payment, you will be prompted with a window to send your file to us. We will confirm the receipt of your file and begin working on it right away.
