Software doesn't have to be expensive, below is a colleciton of programs that may help you in your research. We use them here at the center and bets of all they are FREE! thats right FREE! Each one contains tutorials and instruction, but if you have trouble understanding the software function feel free to ask. mbaker@necaps.org

1. PRAAT - Phonetic Analysis Software

Developed by Paul Boersma and David Weenink - Phonetic Sciences, University of Amsterdam. Used for the phonetic analysis.

3. Audacity

Audacity® is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems.

4. Exif Reader

Exif Reader is image file analysis software for Windows. It analyzes and displays the shutter speed, flash condition, focal length, and other image information included in the Exif image format which is supported by almost all the latest digital cameras.

5. Cool Edit Pro

Cool Edit Pro is a powerful audio editor which will take your modifications to the extreme. The large quantity of tools that it incoporates can convert any music file into a real masterpiece.
